Streamlining Guest Services and Marketing

The Problem:

A Tourist Park in far North Queensland wanted to streamline their business operations.
This included going paperless as much as possible, and advertising in smarter ways by implementing new technologies. The tourist park has only ever had access to basic internet, which didn’t allow for streaming services due to low capacity.

The Solution:

Unfortunately, in this region of Queensland they still did not have access to NBN. The best solution for connectivity was utilising Telstra’s 4G network to provide reliable communications.

Our solutions team were able to identify 2 towers nearby – one operating on the Telstra Network, the other on Optus. To ensure the client had a failover option if the Telstra Network ever had outages, we provided a Robustel R2000 Router with Dual-Sim capabilities connected to external antennas on the Main Reception roof.

To expand off the Robustel router, we included a point-to-point Wi-Fi network using the Altai Super WiFi Products. This allowed localised WiFi access to all tourists and staff.

Results:

The Park has now moved to paperless check-in via the AltaiCare Management portal. This allows the Park to capture the clients details for future marketing purposes.

“Advertising our local tourism operators has never been easier, through the AltaiCare Management portal. Instead of having a wall stuffed with brochures and leaflets, we simply ask our guests about the activities they may be interested in when they check in online, and we can specifically offer them discounts on those activities.”

“We work closely with local tourism operators to come up with the best offers for our customers when they stay, and in some cases it results in our business receiving rebates. It’s a win-win.”

The tourist park can now say they offer “free WiFi” which in turn has increased bookings. The WiFi was an inexpensive solution that has completely covered 2400m2 with access for our customers.
